Prof Jie Bao was invited by Prof Manabu Kano to visit the Human Systems Laboratory, Dept of Systems Science, Kyoto University, Japan to collaborate on process fault detection and diagnosis. Prof Bao also presented a lecture entitled "Distributed Model Predictive Control – A Dissipative Systems Approach". In this talk, Prof Bao gave an overview of a non-cooperative Distributed Model Predictive Control (DMPC) approach based on the dissipativity theory and recent results developed by the UNSW Process Control Lab on distributed MPC approaches that ensure the plant-wide stability and performance based on dynamic dissipativity conditions. He also discussed extensions such as distributed economic model predictive control using contraction theory.
